ABOUT CANVAS PRINTMAKER
Imagine waiting fifty years to see your wedding video, yes FIFTY YEARS! Well, that’s just what happened to an elderly lady who called to ask if it was possible to transfer a 16mm film to DVD (that nearly got flung out) as she was downsizing.
Digital picture frames have been around for quite some time now but they have never really competed with modern computer displays or photographic prints. However that got me thinking - could the new 4k monitors actually replace canvas prints and framed photos?
All canvas prints look great but BIG canvas prints really stand out from the crowd. Their sheer size and presence in any room means they are difficult to ignore! They will become the centre of attention and talking point of any room.
Oh no, please tell me you didn’t did you? Seriously? You searched for “buy cheap canvas prints” - what are you thinking??? Nobody minds “inexpensive canvas prints” as this means you are matching similar quality at a better price but “cheap” says it all - you’re not even expecting it to be good quality! Just cheap.
I often get asked why is there so much price difference with canvas prints? And I always used to dismiss this with “you get what you pay for” and while this may be true in a lot of situations a lot of people still fail to understand why there is so much price difference? After all, a canvas print is a canvas print – or is it?
Have you ever wondered why some photo printing companies are better than others? If you have then the chances are you have come to the conclusion that it is down to the printing equipment that they are using and never thought any more about it, and you would be wrong!
When Dr Vinton Cerf, Google’s Chief Internet Evangelist, proclaimed “I would say if there are photos you are really concerned about create a physical instance of them. Print them out.”, it was like music to our ears - finally someone gets it! We have been saying this for many years - print your photos out if you want to keep your most precious memories.
When was the last time you watched your wedding video? Have you thrown out your VCR so now you can’t watch it? Do you remember how much it cost to make? So why aren’t you transferring it to DVD?
Laser and inkjet printing have been around for a long time. Apple Laserwriters have been around since the late 80’s and Epson Stylus Colour inkjets from the early 90’s. So surely by now the confusion over which is best for printing should have been put to bed a long time ago? Well, it seems there is still a lot of confusion out there…..
How many times have you tried to buy a present for a loved one or a good friend only to be stuck with what to get them? The usual dilemma of what they like and the repetitiveness of buying the same perfume or aftershave can get a little boring and impersonal after a while. Why not give them a personalised montage and collage canvas print?
Just imagine if you could have a high quality canvas reproduction made for your home so that you could appreciate your favourite artists and their magnificent paintings… Well, now you can!
Before High Definition (HD) video there was Standard Definition (SD) video and before that there was cine film. Standard definition video came in three main types - PAL, NTSC and SECAM depending on where you were geographically located when the video was taken. They have different refresh rates, different numbers of lines in each frame and different ways of storing the colours.
Panoramic canvas prints are amazing to look at as you get a real feeling of actually being there and can literally spend hours admiring them (not to mention hours showing them off to other people whether they want you to or not!).
Canvas prints make ideal presents for friends and family, especially when it is often difficult to come up with a unique gift for someone you care about.
Take your photos and combine them with a personal message to form a picture made out of the words from your message that is in the shape of the photo.
Well the most obvious and most patronising statement is to "back up your data", but just what exactly is a backup? Is a backup copying your photos from your camera card to your computer? Or is it copying your photos to disk? What about compatibility and lifespan?
Copyright is a problem on the internet with most people not realising they are in breach of copyright by using someone else's photography without their permission.
Every once in a while photographic printers have to print low resolution images - the trouble is, low resolution images don't enlarge very well and the more you enlarge them the worse they look. So what can you do to help enlarge low resolution images without them breaking up?
I love my Lomo Spinner 360 camera. It’s a crazy design – a 35mm camera “spinning” around on a central column using a ring pull and rubber band! Unbelievably somehow it works…. and works well.
No one can doubt the success of digital cameras – it was an overnight revolution. Technology has moved so quickly recently that film processing just couldn’t keep pace with the changes and flexibility that digital cameras offered: Instant viewing, no film processing costs and an almost endless amount of photos on the same card – film just didn’t stand a chance.
It is easy to forget that your most precious memories stored on film and tape can easily deteriorate over time. It is absolutely vital that they are stored correctly to ensure proper playback for conversion to DVD.
There are generally two photographic formats that are used when printing on canvas - JPEG and TIFF. You can also supply EPS and PDF which allow additional vector graphics and text to be added but on the whole most people only want photographic pictures printed on canvas.
Stretcher bars are one of the key components of all canvas prints - they form a frame that retains the shape of the canvas by stretching and smoothing it to its maximum width and height possible, enabling you to display your photography at its very best.
Triptych canvas prints are a fun and eye catching way to decorate your home or office. They work best with pictures of places and abstract images as the picture is split over three or more separate canvas panels.
The digital age is well and truly upon us now - every day something new comes along that alters the way in which we live our lives. Some people love it and others hate it. Much like the industrial revolution changed the way we work, the digital revolution is doing the same today.
All video tape sources suffer from degradation and require electronic adjustment in order to correct playback problems. This ranges from colour problems, noise, horizontal lines, time base errors, drop outs and audio playback problems. Fortunately these days there are many methods to enhance video and audio playback problems.
